What are skins for R4DS
Skins replace software's default graphical design so you can have icons, wallpapers and colors that you like.
Requirements
To use the skins on this page you'll obviously need a Nintendo DS. Also you need a R4DS card with an micro SD memory card to run skins and homebrew software. It is also possible to use them on the M3 Simply card since its basically the same technical design.
Copy files
After downloading the zip-files you must unzip them onto your computer. Use Winzip or similar program to do so. After that the five files should be coppied into one of the _system_/themes directories on your R4DS card.
Every theme folder must have five files. Or six when a gba frame is included.
logo.bmp
icons.bmp
bckgrd_1.bmp
bckgrd_2.bmp
theme.ini
Select theme
Switch on your NDS and when you're in the main screen, the one with the 3 icons, press 'select'. The system walks trough your themes from 01 to 12 and then starts over again. When you've found the theme you like just select one of the icons to move on.
Troubleshooting
- I've uploaded the skins but still see my old one
The current R4 firmware (v1.xx) has 12 themes, each for every month. January shows theme01, februar shows theme02 andso on. Switch theme by pressing the 'select' button in the option screen. The one with the 3 icons that is.
- The files are in the _system_/themes/themeXX directories but I can see them.
Make sure you've unzipped the files. It is essential to have the five files logo.bmp, icons.bmp, bckgrd_1.bmp, bckgrd_2.bmp and theme.ini in this themeXX directory for a proper function. Don't rename them.
- My GBA framse has not changed
The gbaframe.bmp must be in the _system_ directory. Not every theme on this site has an gbaframe and its not neccesary to have this to make the skins work.
